How To Invest For Yourself
With the recent recession and the stock market’s rebound, it’s probably difficult for a newbie investor or even a veteran investor to figure out where the market is heading. Are we out of the recession for good or are there still some rough patches to come? According to some financial advisors, it’s best just to put your money in a money market fund to avoid any losses. However, have you ever thought that is a defeatist attitude to take? After all, the way to make money on the stock market is to buy low and sell high. This means that there are some good long term stock picks to be had if you are willing to be patient and ride the highs and lows. Furthermore, isn’t it up to the financial analyst to tell me what these opportunities are? However, it just seems that much of these advisors are just as clueless as everybody else. If that is the case, why not just invest for yourself and save yourself the fees?
One person who definitely knows how to invest in the stock market is billionaire investor Warren Buffett. According to his stock pick advice, the regular investor should just invest in index funds for the long term if he does not have time to do the research and analysis of the company. It is still a viable investment strategy since the market always rebounds.
Given the losses that people suffered at the hands of Wall Street, it’s a clear wakeup call to the masses. More and more, crooked money managers are making headlines and one only has to look at disgraced Ponzi scheme operator Bernie Madoff as an example. The lesson learned here is to take care of your own finances and to stop paying people to drive your life savings to the ground.
