Are You New to Forex?

If you are new to the financial markets, you are probably wondering what the heck is Forex (otherwise known as FX or foreign exchange).  The Forex market is actually the over-the-counter (OTC) market for the trading of currencies.  A simple example of a Forex trade is where you buy US Dollars, but sell Pounds Sterling.

The foreign exchange market is probably the largest and most liquid market in the world.  Trading occurs every minute of every day, with trillions of dollars transacted on a daily basis.

So if you are new to the market and you want to start trading forex, you will want to do your homework. But where do you start? Well, you can get all sorts of forex trading software online, some of which is completely free. So a good place to start is often by just downloading this software, installing it and playing with it to see what sort of unique forex trading signals come up.

Some of these products and services do require a subscription payment, but even those that do will often allow you to use the software on a free trial basis for anything up to a month or so. Just make sure you read the small print. After all, you don’t want to see your account debited because you’ve subscribed to something you didn’t intend to pay for.

The nice thing about a lot of these forex trading programs is that they help you establish a trading strategy, either with a small amount of money or even “paper trading”, which is where you don’t actually invest any real money but you still follow the markets and make trades as if you were investing for real. This is a very low risk way to educate yourself in the markets.

Once you start trading for real, be careful because forex, like any other market, can be risky. Many novice traders lose a lot of money because they just don’t know what they are doing. Don’t be one of them! If you make sure to never risk more than you can afford to lose, you should be OK.
