Are Copper ETF Funds Safer Than Gold?

All investors have to make choices.  And the difference between a successful investor and one who is constantly losing money is almost always in those choices that they make.  The thing is, that when it comes to making investment decisions, it’s important to look beyond the obvious and consider the deeper underpinnings of a situation.  This is where many different factors come to light, and is often why an investor can make a move that seems unwise, but actually brings in a lot of money down the road.  The main thing is to look ahead, and see the future implications of an investment move.

When looking at the prices of copper ETF funds, its important to keep this in mind, particularly when you are comparing it to gold.  The price of copper did take a significant decline just now, but that doesn’t mean that it’s an investment to turn away from.  In fact, the wise investor would take this opportunity to buy up shares at a lower price, even at the expense of having to forgo a new gold ETF.

One of the main reasons that the price of copper has dropped has to do with the economic situation in Europe being a shaky one.  After misleading announcements by political leaders (not investment authorities!) many people sold their investments in certain commodities, lowering prices across the board.  And China bought less copper than usual, another contributing factor.

However, there is no practical alternative to copper, a metal that is heavily relied upon by the housing, industrial, and technology producers.  It is so needed that it is one of the only metals that is recycled at nearly the same rate that it is mined.  While gold’s value is mostly perceived, copper’s value is real, making it a much safer and reliable investment in my book.
